Keep a route observation card

Record a familiar route with its usual duration, surfaces and places to pause. Note shade, available waste bins and busy crossings from your own visit. Conditions change, so check the route before relying on an older note.

Follow local leash and access rules, collect waste and give other walkers space. Match the walk to your dog and current conditions; take individual health or exercise questions to your veterinarian.
